Mrs. Bessie Lee Petty-Jefferson

Bessie Lee PettyJefferson was born November 5, 1926 to Mrs. Nora Oden Petty and Mr. George Lee in Lowndes County, Mississippi. She confessed her faith in Jesus Christ at a vey early age at Lumus Chapel Church. She was married to Mr. A.Z. Jefferson, Sr. in 1940. She leaves to cherish her memories: two daughters: Flora Cousins of Rockford, IL; and Ethel Anderson of Detroit, MI; six sons: A.Z. Jefferson, Jr. (Estella) of Rockford, IL; George Jefferson (Lillian) of Lakeland, FL; William Jefferson (Ethel) of Richmond, VA; Lincoln Jefferson (Hazel) of Detroit, MI; Alvin Jefferson of Starkville, MS; Wade Petty of Starkville, MS; one brother, Turner Lee Petty, Sr. of Starkville, MS; at least 100 grand, great grand and great, great grandchildren; devoted friends: Mrs. Helen Takacs Amon, Mrs. Johnnie Miller and Mrs. Julia Moore; a chosen daughter, Mrs. Marian Durham of Bartlett, TN; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by two sons: James and Kenneth Jefferson.
