Willie B. Johnson, Sr. was born July 17, 1947 in Crawford (Oktibbeha County), Mississippi to the late Charlie James Johnson, Jr. and the late Margaree Davis Johnson. “Will” accepted Christ at an early age and joined Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he was later ordained a deacon. He later joined Charity Mission Full Gospel Baptist under the pastorage of Bishop Bobby L. McCarter, Sr. where he served his church faithfully as a deacon, a member of the Mass Choir, and male choir until he became ill.
Deacon Will attended B. L. Moor High School where he received a diploma in 1965. He also received a B.A. Degree in Christian Education from Jacksonville Theological Seminary, Jacksonville, Florida December 12, 1999. Deacon Will expressed his love for God through singing gospel music. He sang with the Prodigal sons, Traveling Stars, and Golden Voices in the early seventies.
