MRS. RENA MAE ROGERS

September 17, 1937 - December 31, 2020

Rena Mae Rogers was born on September 17, 1937 in Starkville, Mississippi to the late Wesley and Hattie Dell Plair. Rena was the second oldest of six children (Linda Boyd-Hayes, Elaine Weeden, the late Willie Louis Banks, Aaron Plain, and the late John Welsey Plair). Rena attended Henderson High School where she was very active in playing basketball, softball, running track, and dancing. Rena received her GED to enable her to take care of her family. As a caring person, Rena received her CNA certification and worked at Starkville Manor and Carrington Nursing Home as a Licensed CNA doing what she loved, caring for people. While at Starkville Manor, she, also, worked in the Dietary Department. Rena was a seamstress and a barber, as well. With all her accomplishments, her biggest accomplishment was her family. She loved spending time with them watching scary movies and cooking meals not only for the holidays but through the week. Rena accepted Christ as her personal savior where she was a faithful member of Plair United Methodist Church and she later joined Rock Hill United Methodist Church. Rena held several positions and served on several committees during her time at Plair (Superintended of Sunday School; Children, Youth, and Adult Sunday School Teacher; Director of Vacation Bible School, Director of Children Ministries; Trustee; PPRC chairperson and member; fundraiser chair; Church Conference Delegate; Planning Committee, Recording Secretary, Finance Secretary, member of the Finance Committee; Christian Education Director, Usher Board) and Rock Hill (PPRC, Chair and member; Adult Sunday School Teacher; Member of the Gospel Choir; Member of the United Methodist Women; Member of the Nominating Committee; Member of the NOW Committee; Church Conference Delegate). She was called into ministry and on August 12, 2000 and August 11, 2001, she received certification as a Certified Lay Speaker from Wood College. She was a woman who followed the Lord and another accomplishment was a book entitled Answers to Life Problems. Rena was married to the late Frank Lee Rogers, Sr. on October 20, 1956 and to this union five (5) children were born: Frank Rogers, Jr., Late Dennis Lee Rogers, Late Alice Faye Hampton, Lisa Rogers Hendrix, and Wilburn Rogers. Her children were her pride and joy. Rena leaves to cherish her memories her children Frank Rogers, Jr., Wilburn Rogers (Maxine), and Lisa Rogers Hendrix all from Starkville, Mississippi; sisters: Linda Hayes (Kevin), Elaine Weeden and brother, Aaron Plair all from St. Louis, Missouri; 15 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; son-in-laws, John (LeeLee) Hendrix and Gerome Hampton. She has many, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
