Known to her children as Mom, to Freddie she was "Ganny"; Her
siblings called her Cynt or Cynthia, to friends, sorors and classmates
she was CC. Her love of people, kindness and strength were
unwavering. Anyone who knew her, knew that her family meant the
world to her.
Cynthia Cooper Melton was born January 12, 1958 in Oktibbeha
County. She was the eighth child of the late Eddie R. and Dorintha
Jackson Cooper. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers:
Robert L. and Walter E. Cooper and two sisters: Dehaviland Cooper
and Faye N. Dillard.
Cynthia gave her life to Christ and served at Mt. Airy M. B Church
throughout her childhood and young adult life. At the time of her
passing, she fellowshiped with New Horizons M. B. Church in
Columbus, Ohio.
Cynthia loved life and was an avid sports fan always ready with cheer
and laughter. A 1977 graduate of Sturgis High School she continued
her education at Tougaloo College. There she became a member of the Delta
