Mr. Dennis Lee "Gus" Rogers

Dennis Lee “Gus” Rogers was born on May 12, 1959 to the late Frank Lee and Rena Mae Rogers. Dennis departed this life peacefully on Sunday morning, April 27, 2014 at University of Alabama Medical Center with his family members at his side. Dennis attended Starkville Elementary Schools and graduated from Starkville High School in 1977. After graduation, Dennis got his first job in 1977 with the Oktibbeha County Board of Supervisors as a backhoe operator. In 1978, he began working with the Starkville Public Schools as a bus-driver and later was employed with the City of Starkville Electric Department from 1979 to 1984 as a meter-reader. He then transferred from the electric department to the Starkville Police Department on December 1, 1984. The Mississippi Law Enforcement Training Academy screamed his name in 1985 when he graced the academy with his presence.
