Ms. Doris Ann Garrett

March 4, 1959 — January 16, 2026

Louisville

Doris Garrett was born on March 4, 1959, in Chicago, Illinois, to Charles Garrett Sr. and Marie Garrett. She was the beloved oldest of five children, followed by Charles Garrett Jr., Belinda Jones, Karen Puckett, and Sharon Smith.

At a young age, Doris answered the call to serve her country by joining the United States Air Force shortly after graduating, dedicating three years of honorable service. After completing her military service, she relocated to California, settling in the Los Angeles area, where she welcomed her cherished daughter, Shareeta Carter Garrett (James).

Doris was a woman of determination, compassion, and growth. She began her professional career as a loan processor before following her true calling into nursing. For more than 20 years, she worked at Kaiser Permanente as a postpartum and labor-and-delivery nurse, where she found deep fulfillment in caring for mothers and newborns during some of life’s most meaningful moments.

Beyond her profession, Doris had a lifelong passion for learning about health, wellness, and natural remedies. She took great joy in encouraging others and helping them improve their health through holistic and natural approaches. She was joyful, friendly, and deeply caring—qualities that made her presence comforting and uplifting.

Doris possessed a strong entrepreneurial spirit and a love for life, travel, and service. One of her greatest dreams was to travel to Africa and establish programs that would uplift communities, improve quality of life, and foster self-awareness and empowerment.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Shareeta (James), and son-in-law, Anthony James; her four treasured grandchildren, Daylan James, Jonathan James, Zacchaeus James, and Samaria Leah James; her devoted mother, Marie Garrett; her siblings, Charles Garrett Jr. and his spouse Jennifer (Jenny) Garrett, Belinda Jones, Karen Puckett and her spouse Aaron Puckett, and Sharon Smith and her spouse Curtis Smith; along with a host of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

Doris was preceded in death by her father, Charles Garrett Sr.

She is deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Everyone who ever spoke with Doris or spent time in her presence felt drawn to her spirit and uplifted by her light. She was a source of inspiration to many, and her influence will continue to carry on through the years in our hearts.

May Doris Garrett rest in peace and remain forever in our hearts until we meet again at the second coming of our Savior.
