Joyce Ann Macon was born in Oktibbeha County, Starkville, Mississippi to the late Jessie and Martha Lou Townsel on May 20, 1956. She was the eleventh child.
At an early age Mrs. Joyce Macon accepted Christ as her personal Savior at Josey Creek Baptist Church. She later united with Mt. Peiler Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her health failed. She was actively involved in the following church ministries: Gospel Choir, Beginner’s Choir, Chancel Choir, NBC, Sunday School, Deaconess Ministry, Wedding Committee, Nursing Guild, VBS, Children Church, Hospitality Committee, Marquis Committee, and Decorating Committee.
Mrs. Macon attended school in Starkville and graduated from Starkville High School in 1974. She also received certifications from East Mississippi Community College in Mayhew, Mississippi in Nursing (1976) and Emergency Medical Technician (1989).
