Mrs. Maxine R. Henry was an educator for over thirty years. Over the years both administrators and parents expressed appreciation for her demonstration of competency, consistency, creativity, and firmness in the classroom. She began teaching in 1949. She taught in Inverness, MS and at Motley Elementary in Lowndes County, MS. For thirteen years, Mrs. Henry was a third grade teacher at Moor High School. For the remainder of her teaching career, she taught fifth grade at Sudduth Elementary in the Starkville School District.
She was the devoted mother of four children: Dennis M. Henry (Patricia) of Chicago, Illinois; Yolanda (deceased); Maggie Little of Atlanta, Georgia, and Rogenia D. Finnie (Richard) of Memphis, Tennessee. She was the loving granny of Dennis Henry, Jr.; Jared Conley (Sierra); Kevin Conley (Tiffany); the late Carmen Hood (Jason), Miranda Little (deceased), and Marcus Finnie (Rae). She was affectionately called granny or mother dear by her six great-grandchildren.
