He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Susie Mae Spencer; four sons: Ricky (Wilma) Spencer, Bruce (Janice) Spencer, James (Jackie) Spencer, James (Margaret) Spencer Chandler, Sr. all of Starkville, MS; siblings: Edward Spencer of San Franciso, CA; Annie Mae Fox, Lorene Andrerson, and Catherine Brooks of St. Louis, MO; three sisters-in-law: Martha Carr, Jennie Carr, Nancy (Robert) Lawrence all of Starkville, MS; a special friend: Robert Timms; twelve grandchildren, thirty-two great-grandchildren, eight great great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
