Mr. Gentle Robert Smith

Gentle Robert Smith gained his wings on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, at the State Veteran’s Home in Kosciusko, Mississippi. He was 74 years old. Gentle Robert Smith was born on Sunday, December 15, 1946, in Mantee, Mississippi to John C. Smith and Arleader Belk Smith. He was the ninth child of ten children. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers – John C. Smith, Jr and Charles Smith; and two sisters – Bernice Pratt and Hazel Carouthers. In 1949, his parents moved their family to West Point, Mississippi to the Fountain Head Community. His early education began at Fountain Head School which is now Southside Elementary School in West Point. He graduated Fifth Street High School in 1964. After graduating high school, Mr. Smith attended Mary Holmes Junior College until he enlisted in the Military in 1966. He served three years in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior at an early age and joined the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church....
