Mrs. Trudie Ann Mcilwain Matthews

Trudie Ann McIlwain Matthews was born August 17, 1942, the third child out of seven, to Doss Watt “D.W.” McIlwain Jr. and Annie Allene “Allie” Robinson McIlwain. She grew up on the Oktibbeha County farm where she continued to reside for most of her life. She graduated from Starkville High School in 1961 and attended Mississippi State University, where she met her husband Joe Matthews, a native of Vernon, Alabama. The couple married on June 22, 1962, and they recently marked 60 years of marriage before her death on June 28, 2022. Trudie was a homemaker and a longtime caregiver for her oldest son, Lee. She was very devoted to her family, including extended family and close friends. She advocated for high quality and loving care for those with disabilities. She was a member of Osborn Presbyterian Church, and she put her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, setting her sights on Him through good times and difficult times.
